Riney to Paddle Board Length of Lagoon.
Beginning at Ponce Inlet and ending at Jupiter Inlet, Riney will travel 17 miles a day, carrying all his food and camping gear on his paddle board.
Fort Pierce environmentalist Capt. Don Voss will provide support and debris collection for the 10-day paddle.
This is one in a series of six paddles called the XF500 Conservation Paddles that highlights select Florida waterways in preparation for Riney’s Expedition Florida 500 for Florida’s 500 birthday celebration’s in 2013.
Riney is paddling to raise awareness about issues relating to the health of the lagoon and promote the importance of finding local solutions to the immediate problems facing our waterway.
Riney will paddle through Fort Pierce on Oct. 18. He will be greeted by Mayor Bob Benton at the Museum Pointe Beach at 11 a.m. Local outfitter ‘Lisa’s Kayaks’ will provide paddle boards and kayaks to anyone interested in joining him in a Spoil Island cleanup.
